The beer pipeline of Brewery De Halve Maan in Bruges is celebrating its tenth anniversary. It was a world first in 2016, and remains so to this day. The underground pipeline connects the brewery in the historic city center with the bottling plant, located 3.3 kilometers away on the outskirts of the city.
It ensures that far fewer trucks need to enter the city. Our CO₂ emissions in the city have dropped significantly as a result of this project.
Today, 40 percent of De Halve Maan's beer goes abroad: to neighboring countries, but also to the US, China, and Brazil.
